The number of prospective patients using the Internet to search for procedures and doctors is growing dramatically. Each month, approximately 2,000,000 searches are conducted for information about the following procedures:

  • Rhinoplasty: 82,857
  • Breast Augmentation: 693,489
  • Liposuction: 213,882
  • Face Lift: 93,387
  • Hair Transplants: 392,646
  • Laser Eye Surgery: 366,126
  • Gastric Bypass: 254,496

73 million American go online to look for doctors and procedural information each year.

72 percent of women use the Net to look for health information, compared to 51 percent of men.

About 6 million Americans seek medical advice online during an average day.

According to a new report from Harris Interactive, around 90 percent of Americans surveyed said that they would like to be able to contact their physician on the Internet.




In addition, around 77 percent of Americans would like to be able to ask their doctor medical-related questions online instead of having to visit surgeries.

Harris Interactive says most physicians connect to the Internet on a daily basis and 42 percent work in practices that have websites, according to new research.
